About Apogiatura Art

Jennifer Carroll Walker

Mirrors: an artist friend once made me realize that all art is actually self-portrait, but being of a contrary nature I want to mess with that.

Mirrors: they're all about you.
“If you can't see my mirrors, I can't see you.”

Much of my artwork is a combination of mirrors, found objects and mosaics created from broken souvenirs, uniquely personal to the subject of the piece. Living with my life partner’s brain, I have been learning to find the reconstruction of memory fascinating and beautiful.

I was born and raised in the beautiful Pacific NW, started my education at UW, but since there was no dance major available at that time, I moved to NY with my sweetheart, Steve Walker, where I studied and performed as a ballet dancer and actress, and worked at the National Lampoon. I came back to Seattle, where I performed and taught for Pacific NW Ballet, Seattle U, and many others. Steve  and I married and had 2 daughters, who have grown into amazing, accomplished women. My dancing expanded into choreography and performances around the world as a teacher, performer, and puppeteer. At home I started doing visual art as well, collaborating often with Steve. To support my art addiction and put the girls through college, I returned to the UW as staff, where I remained for 20 years, now caring for Steve and arting when I can. Blessings and curses…
